WordPress migration and optimization of the IOC portal

Modernizing management and user experience at the IOC with a new, more autonomous, and accessible WordPress platform.

The Institut Obert de Catalunya (IOC), under the Department of Education and Vocational Training of the Generalitat de Catalunya, is the leading center for flexible online training. With an educational offering serving more than 10,000 students annually, the organization required a digital gateway that was truly robust, efficient, and prepared for constant growth.

The starting point was a Joomla-based platform that presented limitations in both technical performance and ease of editing. In this context, at ThinkUPC, as part of the TICxCAT consortium, we have led the complete migration of the website to WordPress. The main challenge was to move this entire ecosystem to a more intuitive and flexible environment, allowing IOC staff to manage the portal autonomously and without relying on advanced technical support for daily tasks, while always ensuring service continuity for the students.
