- Thanks to its status as a Premium Partner of Moodle, ThinkUPC will implement Moodle Workplace—the most advanced solution of this globally leading LMS platform—at the Spanish Creu Roja.
ThinkUPC, the consulting and advanced digital services company of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), has recently signed an agreement with the Spanish Creu Roja to implement a new eLearning platform. This collaboration represents a qualitative leap that reinforces the commitment to online and blended learning, modalities that this prominent humanitarian organization has been delivering since 2000.
Regarding this collaboration, Pablo Navajo, Director of the Education Knowledge Area at the Creu Roja., comment “We have always championed innovation—technological, educational, and organizational—and quality. That’s why it’s essential not only to have the right content, but also a reliable LMS platform and a partner with the experience, expertise, and assurances to support us through these innovative processes and deliver high-quality service. ThinkUPC embodies these characteristics we were looking for, and undoubtedly, we are beginning a partnership that will clearly assist us in our mission to ‘be better’ and, in turn, to carry out our humanitarian work even more effectively.”.
For his part, Ricard Grau, Business Development Manager at ThinkUPC., comment “We are very proud to collaborate with an organization like the Creu Roja, a global leader in the humanitarian field, and with whom we are embarking on a journey that we are convinced will be long and successful.” And he adds “ThinkUPC’s commitment to offering advanced and innovative digital solutions—specifically, Moodle Workplace deployed on AWS—is enabling us to deliver a service of the highest quality and availability on eLearning platforms. This has led an organization as demanding as the Creu Roja to trust us as its strategic partner in a key technology for consolidating its humanitarian activities.”.
The new Virtual Campus of the Creu Roja.
The solution selected to create the new Virtual Campus of the Creu Roja was Moodle Workplace, the most advanced version of this globally leading LMS platform, with over 240 million users of its solutions worldwide.
ThinkUPC, thanks to its status as a Premium Partner—the highest level of partnership offered by Moodle—is currently one of the few companies in Spain capable of providing Moodle Workplace as a cloud service, specifically from the public cloud Amazon Web Services (AWS), where ThinkUPC is an Advanced Tier Services Partner. The Moodle Workplace service offered by ThinkUPC on AWS, with its high flexibility and scalability in the event of significant increases in platform usage, is ideal for this project, given the Creu Roja forecasts regarding the number of students to be trained on the Virtual Campus: 115,000 students in 2023, with expectations to reach 130,000 students in 2024.
Moodle Workplace offers a range of advanced, exclusive functionalities that led the Spanish Creu Roja to choose this solution and partner with ThinkUPC for its implementation. These functionalities include multi-tenancy, an architecture that allows a single instance of Moodle Workplace to provide multiple departments or organizations with their own personalized learning environment (customizable look and feel, users, permissions, content, etc.); programs, which enable the creation of training pathways composed of various courses, linking them to specific processes (such as onboarding new employees) and automatically assigning them to individual users or user profiles; dynamic rules, which save administrative time by automating routine processes like enrollments, certification assignments, and messaging; and an organizational structure feature, which allows courses, programs, and other resources to be assigned to users based on their roles or positions within the organization.
Creu Roja, a Long-Term Commitment to Training
In Spain, the Creu Roja has over 250,000 volunteers and more than 1,400 service points across the country, enabling them to support over four million people each year with the help of more than 1,360,000 members, companies, and partners.
One of the strategic activities for the Creu Roja with the highest number of participants, is training. The Creu Roja Education Knowledge Area manages all the training activities carried out by the organization, both internally for the development of its paid staff and volunteers and externally, providing training to public administrations, organizations and institutions, companies, and the general public.
The organization’s digital transformation plan includes the need to evolve the Virtual Campus with new capabilities that better address current realities, enhancing both process efficiency and the user experience for administrators and beneficiaries alike.
