Since 2006, the Genweb UPC platform has been the central solution for meeting the web publishing needs of the entire Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) community. It seems like yesterday when the first version of this tool was launched, and throughout these two decades, we have seen the project evolve through different versions to reach the current Version 6.
Developed on top of the Plone content management system, Genweb has stood out from the beginning for its high level of security, stability, and robustness. Thanks to these features, the solution currently manages over 500 university websites, serving faculties, departments, research groups, and services.
Behind this trajectory is a team of professionals from the UPC, UPCnet, and ThinkUPC, who have overseen the development and continuous improvement of the platform to adapt it to the technological and communication needs of every moment.
To commemorate such a special date, on Saturday, October 17th, we met for a celebratory lunch that brought together everyone from the pioneers who laid the first stones of the project to the new additions who keep the solution up to date. It was an ideal space to recall anecdotes, share experiences, and celebrate the work accomplished together.
This journey continues, and the story doesn’t end here: we will keep collaborating to grow Genweb UPC and provide the best service for many more years to come.
