Facilitamos la transformaci\u00f3n DevOps con contenedores y servicios gestionados en la nube de AWS al Centro Internacional de M\u00e9todos Num\u00e9ricos en Ingenier\u00eda.<\/h2>

Reto<\/h2>

El Centro Internacional de M\u00e9todos Num\u00e9ricos en Ingenier\u00eda (CIMNE<\/a>) desarrolla y ofrece a sus clientes la aplicaci\u00f3n GiD, dise\u00f1ada para cubrir todas las necesidades comunes en el campo de la simulaci\u00f3n num\u00e9rica, desde el preprocesamiento hasta el posprocesamiento: modelado geom\u00e9trico, definici\u00f3n efectiva de datos de an\u00e1lisis, mallado, transferencia de datos al software de an\u00e1lisis, y an\u00e1lisis y visualizaci\u00f3n de resultados num\u00e9ricos.<\/p>

GiD Simulation<\/a> es el entorno en el que los usuarios pueden adquirir GiD y en el que tienen accesibles todos los servicios de apoyo relacionados: la documentaci\u00f3n del producto, el foro de consultas, recursos para las aplicaciones, recursos para automatizar tareas de ejecuci\u00f3n diaria y la tienda y el sitio de descarga de las versiones del producto.<\/p><\/div>

\"Gid<\/div><\/div>

Este entorno est\u00e1 desplegado en una arquitectura monol\u00edtica, y a fin de garantizar la disponibilidad y la calidad del servicio ante el crecimiento previsto de la demanda de GiD, CIMNE se plantea migrar GiD Simulation a Amazon Web Services (AWS)<\/span> aprovechando los servicios gestionados que ofrece y buscando los beneficios siguientes: reducir los costes de administraci\u00f3n, optimizar los tiempos y costes de despliegue, aprovechar las facilidades de elasticidad y garantizar la alta disponibilidad.<\/p>

Proyecto<\/h2>

Para lograr los objetivos anteriores, desde ThinkUPC hemos propuesto la evoluci\u00f3n de GiD Simulation a un modelo basado en contenedores y servicios AWS para transformar no solo la arquitectura sino tambi\u00e9n el modo de realizar el desarrollo y el despliegue de nuevas versiones y de administrar el entorno<\/span>.<\/p>

El proyecto se ha desarrollado conjuntamente en las siguientes fases<\/span>:<\/p>

  • Consultor\u00eda inicial para el an\u00e1lisis de necesidades y revisi\u00f3n de la arquitectura actual.<\/li>
  • Dise\u00f1o de la nueva arquitectura y el nuevo modelo de trabajo.<\/li>
  • Implantaci\u00f3n de la arquitectura y generaci\u00f3n de entornos de preproducci\u00f3n y producci\u00f3n.<\/li>
  • Transformaci\u00f3n de aplicaciones hacia un modelo de contenedores.<\/li>
  • Validaci\u00f3n de la nueva plataforma.<\/li>
  • Migraci\u00f3n y paso a producci\u00f3n.<\/li>
  • Asesoramiento en buenas pr\u00e1cticas CI\/CD y DevOps.<\/li>
  • Documentaci\u00f3n y traspaso de conocimiento.<\/li><\/ul>

    Dentro de la arquitectura, podemos destacar el uso de los siguientes servicios<\/span>:<\/p>

    • EKS, como servicio gestionado de plataforma Kubernetes, en modo multi-AZ para ofrecerle alta disponibilidad.<\/li>
    • Cloudfront como CDN para facilitar el acceso mundial al portal.<\/li>
    • Servicio de almacenamiento S3.<\/li>
    • Synthetics Canaries para la ejecuci\u00f3n de procesos programados.<\/li>
    • Bases de datos RDS que tambi\u00e9n facilitan la reducci\u00f3n de la dedicaci\u00f3n del personal de CIMNE a la administraci\u00f3n de la plataforma.<\/li><\/ul>

      Resultados<\/h2>

      GiD Simulation est\u00e1 alojado en AWS, funciona sobre una arquitectura basada en Kubernetes gestionada siguiendo la filosof\u00eda DevOps. La combinaci\u00f3n de estos tres elementos ha facilitado que:<\/p>

      1. CIMNE disponga ahora de una plataforma de negocio \u00e1gil y escalable<\/span>. Con la adopci\u00f3n de su primer entorno basado en contenedores han dado el primer paso en el recorrido DevOps.<\/li>
      2. El hecho de disponer de una arquitectura basada en EKS sobre AWS les permite generar automatismos en torno a la plataforma y al mismo tiempo crecer<\/span> (en volumen o en nuevas aplicaciones) de forma \u00e1gil y con poco esfuerzo, reduciendo las tareas necesarias de administraci\u00f3n.<\/li>
      3. La plataforma ha ganado en disponibilidad y se ha optimizado el n\u00famero y volumen de recursos necesarios<\/span> para su funcionamiento.<\/li><\/ol>

        Este proyecto ha sido la primera fase de un plan de transformaci\u00f3n de GiD Simulation, gracias al cual en un futuro pr\u00f3ximo los usuarios podr\u00e1n recibir m\u00e1s servicios en el campo de las simulaciones num\u00e9ricas en modalidad SaaS.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
